Submit a Dispute to the Credit Bureau
When you feel that it is the credit bureau which made an error in your credit report, according to the fair credit report act you have a right to an accurate report, this provision gives you the power to dispute errors with the credit bureau.
The best thing to do before you dispute your credit report is to check all three credit reports for errors, Until April 2021 you are entitled to weekly free credit reports from the major three credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, TransUnion and Experian. You can request them here
The reason why you should check with all the major credit bureaus is that if negative credit report entries are found on one report it is wise to see if they appear on the other 2.
The easiest way to submit disputes is via mail or online, For you to make a dispute online you must have recently ordered a copy of your credit report. You can then submit the dispute with the credit bureau which gave you the report.
